Nearly 24 hours after North Carolina’s WRAL broke the news of the heinous murder of a five-year old child, mainstream media outlets such as CNN and MSNBC are yet to cover the story.

Darius N. Sessoms, a 25-year old black man, has been accused by witnesses of callously shooting white five-year old Cannon Hinnant, who was riding his bike through Wilson, North Carolina.
Sessoms was brought into custody and charged with first degree murder on Sunday night.
ABC News, Reuters, and NBC are among the other corporate news outlets that are steadfastly ignoring the story, as of Tuesday night.

Every one of these news outlets has extensively covered incidences of crime in which the races of the perpetrator and the victim are reversed, including the Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd cases. In both cases, similarly to the Hinnant case, the alleged prepetrators were arrested and charged in the crimes. They’re remarkably silent when it comes to a case in which the alleged perpetrator is black, even though the murder of the five year old child appears to be even more heinous and senseless than the deaths of two grown men.
Sessoms’ brother appears to be a convicted pedophile.
Reports of the killing also appear to dismiss the racial dynamics of the heinous crime, declining to share pictures of the victim and the suspect.
